Clicker Training: The 4 Secrets of Becoming a Super Trainer is a digital ebook that is based on positive training instead of harsh punishment training.

With clicker training, your dog learns to connect good behavior with treats. With clicker-training, your dog learns to use their mind and think instead of automatically following.

The skills your dog will learn includes problem solving, experimenting-cause and effect and creativity. Dogs like to feel they are in control and with clicker-training, you give them that feeling of control without bad behaviors. With clicker-training, your dog will learn to LOVE learning, making dog training a lot more effective and effortless.

The only way I know to do that is make sure my dog understands me. Language is a big communication barrier so to avoid frustration and misunderstandings, I thought I’d try Clicker Dog Training.

Train Your Dog Obedience With Clicker Training!

So, what exactly is clicker training?

Click Training is a very effective method for dog obedience. Clicker training is suppose to help your dog associate good experience with good behavior. Clicker dog training is more effective then telling your dog “good dog”. This is a more humane way of training your dog instead of yanking on your dog’s leash or bopping your dog on the head every time they do something wrong. The trainers at Sea World use Clicker training to train the dolphins and whales.

The clicker is this little device that has it’s own distinct sound. You are going to train your dog that every time they hear a click, they did something to please you, making them want to stay on good behavior.Clicker dog training is great for basic dog obedience, off leash walking training, tricks, dog competitions. Pretty much anything that requires focus and attention from your dog.

How to Clicker Train Your Dog

Make sure you have plenty of treats on hand when you begin your clicker dog training.

With treats behind your back, say your dog’s name and if he looks at you, give him a treat! Repeat several times until your dog gets the game. Make sure he makes eye contact every time he looks at you.

Make it a little harder and put the treats on the counter where your dog can see them. This will be a little more challenging since your dog will be very focused on the treats. Say his name again and if successfully makes eye contact with you, reward him with a treat! Be patient because this may be a little tougher for your dog. Repeat his name until he looks at you. Soon enough he’ll “get it.”

Next step, have someone else in the room to play decoy. You want your dog to get distracted when your friend walks in. Say your dog’s name and if he makes eye contact with you, reward him. Give him a generous treat (5-6 tasty morsels). This will be really tough because like kids, dogs get so distract easily. Make sure you reward him every time he successfully looks at you.

There are two components you are focusing on with these exercise for successful clicker dog training. The first one is length of time you click and treat. The second factor is how your dog responds with distractions. For example, if your dog gets distract by another dog, and you say his name and he responds to you, instantly reward him. This is a breakthrough!

If your dog isn’t doing well responding to the clicker (he’s too distracted) then you may be going too fast for your dog.

Go even further and try training your dog basic commands. Connect the cue words like “sit” and “stay” to the clicker and a tasty treat. With time, you can slowly fade off the treats as well as the clicker.

With a lot of patience and practice, clicker dog training will pay off.

Keep in mind that puppies use their mouth to learn and explore the world. That’s why dog slobber and having a puppy goes hand in hand. Biting is when it starts become a problem. Stop puppy biting is a behavior that needs to nipped in the bud right away.

Want to Banish Bad Dog Behavior?

Learn How to Stop Puppy Biting Here!

Puppies learn bite inhibition when they are still with their mom and siblings. That’s why it’s really important to not take a puppy away from it’s mom until their 8 weeks old if you want to prevent and stop puppy biting.

They learn bite inhibition when their sucking on their mom’s nipples and if they bite too hard, their mom gets up and walks away. When they are playing with their siblings, if they bite to hard or play too rough, their brother or sister will cease all play. To stop puppy biting, when you bring home your new puppy, you will have to recondition and reinforce your puppy’s bite inhibition.

For a puppy, play is one of the most important things (other than tasty treats) to them. If they’re the one that get bitten, they now know how to associate the pain to biting. That’s why it doesn’t hurt dogs when they carry their own tails in their mouths. This is how puppies are introduced to biting inhibition.

Biting inhibition is how a puppy learns to regulate how much pressure to apply before it causes pain. When your puppy bites you, your puppy doesn’t realize how much they’re hurting you. That’s why when you take a puppy home, it’s really important to reinforce biting inhibition. Here are a few things to keep in mind if you want to stop puppy biting.

Stop Puppy Biting Tips:

Next time your puppy bites or nips you, yelp really loud, walk away and ignore your dog for a few seconds. Only for a few seconds because puppies are very distractable. Your puppy will soon learn that if he bites you then there will be no more play. Don’t ever resort to hitting because one day your dog will be full grown and can show you what a REAL bite is.

Avoid tug of war and wrestling with your puppy. You may think it’s all harmless fun, but how tug of war game and roughhousing will only further cause aggression down the road with your puppy.

Teach your puppy basic obedience training. A good cue word is “off”. Try this exercise. With your dog, roll a ball across the floor. Firmly say “OFF”. If your dog doesn’t go after the ball, give him a treat. When your dog does go after the ball, use your firm tone of voice to question his natural instinct to go after the ball. When he doesn’t go after the ball, reward your dog instantly with a treat. To give him permission to go after it, teach him cue words like”Get it”.

Always supervise young children when around your puppy. Young children and puppies have a lot in common, they both don’t know their own strength and can be unpredictable. This a really important stop puppy biting rule to make sure everyone is safe!

Invest in several kings of chew toys. Dog’s have their own personal preferences. Have ropes, soft (bur durable) stuff animals and all sorts of other chew toys around. Praise your dog when he is biting with his chew toys.

Keep in mind that having puppy will take work. Nipping, mouthing and sometimes biting is a common behavior issue when it comes to puppies. Start at a young age to reinforce good habits and prevent bad behavior. Stop puppy biting for good will take a lot of commitment, patience and consistence. Hang in there, because all your hard work will pay off!

What to do if your puppy is having a difficult time adjusting to his new crate?

For some people, their dogs may really have a hard time getting comfy with their new crates. I can’t stress enough to avoid rushing things with your new puppy. Here are some tips you can use for crate training dogs successfully.

Tired of Coming Home to a War Zone?

Crate Training Dogs is An Effective Way to Treat and Prevent Separation Anxiety!

Put the crate in a room with the door open. Make sure your puppy is happy and comfortable with this room.

When your puppy looks at his crate, give your dog a treat.Do this several times over and eventually stop with the treats.

Within time, your puppy will become even more curious and will want to sniff and check out his crate. Every time he does this, give him a yummy treat. Reward his a several times with treats.

Next, hold on off on giving him tasty rewards. When your puppy actually steps inside his, give him a treat, this is a breakthrough!

Soon your puppy will be going in and out of his crate to get treats. When your puppy does this (smart little critter huh?) , hold off on treats until he SITS DOWN in his crate.

When he finally settles in his crate, try closing the door and feed him treats through his crate. (

This is a great crate training dogs tip!
Here are the BIGGEST MISTAKES owners make when crate training dogs:

Putting your dog in the crate shortly before you leave the house. Your puppy will associate being in his crate every time you leave, giving your dog a “cue” to when you leave will only stress him out.

Leaving your puppy in the crate for more then 5 hours. Not including overnight stays in his crate. Why bother having a dog if he’s confined to a space all day? A pet hamster or a fish may be more your style if that’s the case.

NEVER NEVER punish or show displeasure when your dog has an accident in his crate. That is something totally on you. Just clean it up and take him outside more often.

Don’t give in to your dog’s whines or bark when he’s in his crate. It’s like giving in to a child throwing a tantrum for a lollipop. You will only encourage this kind of behavior.

Last tip: Get physical. Unclench your fist, what I meant is take your dog out for walks, go play fetch, or go to the doggy park. In order for crate training dogs successfully, make sure your puppy gets plenty of exercise. Take your puppy out about 5-6 time a day. That may seem a lot if you have a really busy schedule but that what happens when you get a new puppy. It’s a lot like having a kid. Parenthood can be exhausting and time may feel like it flies out the window, but it’s important to take your puppy out several times a day! I can’t say the same for a puppy owner but a tired puppy is a happy puppy!

These are the secrets to crate training dogs. Did you think I was going to offer a magic pill to crate training dog? It will take hard work, time, and consistence but all your efforts will be well worth it!

With my first puppy, I did not crate train her. I had all sorts of behavioral issues with her that I later learned that with crate training all bad behaviors could have easily been avoided. I used to think that if I confined my puppy to one area while I was gone was in a way cruel. I thought my puppy would have a better time adjusting to his new surroundings if she roamed free. Yup, I was wrong.

Learn What Happens When You

DON’T Crate Train Your Dog!

There are so many benefits to crate training puppies. Not only does your furniture, carpet and anything else in your home stays in tack, your puppy is less likely to develop Separation Anxiety, it makes potty training more successful, and prevents your puppy from getting hurt with dangerous household objects.

Prevent Your Puppy From Destroying

the House While You’re Away

Plus, your new little puppy has a specific spot to feel safe when he or she feels vulnerable. Crate training puppies really helps your dog has separation anxiety. Check out 3 Simple Ways to Help Your Puppy Deal with Separation Anxiety.

Supplies You Need to Crate Training Puppies Successfully

Bedding-Make sure it’s comfortable AND durable. Make your little puppy can’t tear it to shreds or ingest it.

Water-Use a sturdy water dish that your energetic little puppy can’t turn over.

Chew Toys-Use appropriate dog chew toys. Try chew toys that you can fill with food like a Kong. Your dog can spend hours on this thing as well as stimulate his mind.

Crate-Depending on your personal choice of style, you can get a crate in durable plastic form or a mesh wire. Keep in mind that the most important part is the size, make sure your puppy has plenty of room. Ask yourself if crate training puppies who grow to be huge will fit in that little thing?

What Now?

Now that you have all the supplies, question is, how do you get your dog inside? Number 1 tip-NEVER NEVER force your puppy inside. What you want to happen is for your dog to see the crate as his safe haven, and if you force or rush crate training, your puppy will only associate negative feelings with his crate.

That is the last thing you want to happen. Make sure your puppy goes inside on his own terms, not yours. Here are some tips on crate training puppies who show anxiety when it comes to their crate.

Put the crate in a room where you and your puppy bond and leave the crate door open.

Entice your puppy with tasty treats around the crate. Encourage your puppy, especially when he steps inside the crate! Remember, don’t force your puppy in.

Feed all your puppy’s meals inside the crate. (Really effective crate training puppies tip)

Put your dog’s favorite objects inside (blanket and toys)

Once your dog is comfortable with his crate, it’s time to adjust your puppy to being inside his crate with the door CLOSED. This may be a little harder.

Start with 10 second increments with the door being closed. Feed your puppy treats through the crate. Make sure not to rush this part. Your dog may get panicky with the door shut. By slowly adjusting the amount of time your puppy has with the door shut, the closer you are too successful crate training.

Now that your puppy can be in his crate with the door close, the next step is for a short period of time, leave the room. The first test is when you can leave your puppy his crate overnight (next to your bed of course).

TIP: If your puppy whines or seems upset, you are moving too fast. For your puppy’s sake, remember not to rush crate training!

Or you might already have puppy who’s having a difficult time being housebroken and you’re at your wit’s end. Well, don’t fret my pet with a stubborn pet! Here is some things as a dog owner should know when it comes to housebreaking a puppy.

Never Have to Clean Up After Your Puppy Again!

Housebreaking a puppy should be among the top on your priority list when you bring your puppy home. Be prepared to clean up dozens of messes before your puppy is fully housebroken. Similar to potty training a child, it will take a lot of time, patience and consistence for success.

Understand that you are dealing with a young animal. Dog’s are people pleasers. It’s true, dogs want to make you happy but sometimes they don’t know HOW to make you happy. For example, if you find “presents” on the floor from your puppy and you show obvious displeasure for it, your poor pup is not going to know why your upset. Yeah, they may understand you didn’t like the “presents” but your puppy isn’t going to connect the elimination process to your displeasure.

I used to have a puppy who would hide her “gifts” behind a shelf that only she could get to. She understood that I didn’t like cleaning up after her poop, so she hid them from me. She never understood it was the act itself that upset me.

In order for your dog to understand that it’s not okay to eliminate inside, you need to catch them in the act. Firmly say “NO” within seconds of the elimination process. Waiting a couple minutes later will not work. When you catch your pup in the act, don’t physically reprimand your dog. The disapproving tone in your voice should be enough for your puppy to understand that eliminating in the house is not okay.

Immediately take your puppy outside and wait for them to finish eliminating. Whenever your puppy eliminates outside, praise your pup during and before the elimination act. This will help your puppy associate the act itself to your pleasure. Treats! Don’t forget to reward with treats!

Also understand that puppies should be taken out several times a day. Take your puppy out after every meal. You should take your puppy out roughly around 5-6 times a day. A puppy cannot hold their bladder that long. As a general rule, for every month your puppy is, they can hold it for an hour. Want to learn more about housebreaking a puppy? Check out How Long Does it Take To Potty Train a Dog.

Anther effective ways to housebreaking a puppy successfully is crate training. Not only is crate training a good housebreaking a puppy tool, it’s a great way to prevent a lot of puppy behavior problems. Keep in mind that crate training should never be a form of punishment. That will defeat the purpose of crate training all together.

Last tip, do not let an a puppy roam the house free, unsupervised while you’re in the middle of housebreaking a puppy. A puppy should not have free reign of the house quite just yet. With time and more training, your dog be able to explore more (with supervision of course).

Housebreaking a puppy will not be easy. Establishing a daily routine off the bat will help a thriving and beautiful relationship between you and your puppy flourish.

No Need to Fear Your Dog’s

Aggressive Behavior Anymore

Depending on the state and county you live in, you will be held responsible for your dogs actions and along with paying a hefty fine. If your dog shows aggression towards other dogs, this behavior CAN NOT be ignored.

For the safety of your dog and everyone involved, you need to find a way stop your dog’s aggression towards other dogs immediately. There are some owners out there who has a dog aggression towards other dogs problem, they completely avoid situations that may elicit their dog aggression towards other dogs.

If you avoid certain situations with your dog (like going to dog parks or public places together) because you think your taking the necessary precautions for everyone’s safety than your completely avoiding the problem altogether. In the long run it’s not fair for your dog to be socially outcast because of your inability as a dog owner to prevent and fix your dog’s aggression.

I’m not trying to be a jerk but just trying to being honest. Even if you have a grown dog, all hope is not lost for your dog to able to go to a dog park without any problems. Don’t give up on your dog.

The root cause to your dog’s behavior is due to many different types of aggression such as :

Sexual

Dominance

Fear/Anxiety

Territorial

Protective

Redirect His Focus

Take your dog’s attention from the threat. This is also a typical obedience training method. You want your dog to obey your words because you are the Alpha. When another dog comes along, your dog aggression towards other dogs is less likely to brew and he may not even notice the other dog walking by him if you practice redirecting his focus.

Try this at home first and make sure you have plenty of treats to reward your dog for complying. Select a cue word that would associate your dog focusing on you. The cue word I use is “Focus”. When I tell my dog to focus, he and I would make eye contact and I would reward him with a treat.

Try this several times until he “gets it”. Make sure you stay consistent., every time your dog immediately looks up at you, give him a treat. This will help your dog direct his focus on something else when a problematic issue may arise, like a dog walking by.

Once your dog has mastered this exercise, take it a step further. Next, use your cue word and move a couple steps to the left or right and when you dogs keeps his gaze and focus on you, make sure you give him plenty of praise along with a tasty treat.

Work on your dog’s focus with this technique and try adding a few distracting variations to the exercise. take this exercise to another room or try having someone else in the room. With time and practice and how much your dog has mastered this skill, you can take this exercise to an even higher level, the park! In time you can fade out the treats and your dog will be able to associate pleasant experiences to being around other dogs.

Here are some other important things to keep in mind when trying to prevent dog aggression towards other dogs.

Prevent dog aggression towards other dogs by socializing your dog to other dogs and environments at a young age.

Punishing your dog (shock collars and yanking on the leash) will only worsen the situation. Your dog will relate unpleasant experiences with other dogs.

Obedience training is vital. Not only will it help improve your communication with your dog but it will help you control your dog in any situation.

Preventing and fixing dog aggression towards other dogs is not going to be easy. It will take time and practice to get the results you want. Remember you have control of how your dog behaves. I know it may seem next to impossible to fixing certain behaviors but when you overcome the challenges of being a pet owner, only then will you realize how every minute was worth it.
